Property Description
Stake your claim in Colorado! This patented mining claim is just off Forest Road 295, only .7 miles from the parking area for the Alpine Tunnel Trail. This valley is steeped in mining history, in fact, a property bordering this one to the north was once an active mine. The property is gently to steeply sloping, heavily wooded, and loaded with lush, green undergrowth and abundant wildflowers. This could make an awesome camping property, or possibly a yurt getaway. The property consists of more or less 2 mining claims--the Little Ella Lode and most of the Kentucky Lode--for a total of 15.6 acres. There are massive mountain and valley views, and this location is just a few minutes from the trail over Chalk Creek pass. Forest Service Road 295 is open seasonally, and is an active route for snow machines in the winter, so this is not likely to be a year-round getaway for the faint of heart. A recent survey from 2020 is included to help locate property boundaries and historic, stone monuments. Come and see it while the wildflowers are still in bloom! Ask your Broker to see the Table of Allowed Uses for Recreational Zoning in the attached Supplements.

Direction Take CR 162 from Hwy 24 in Nathrop and head towards St. Elmo. Just before St. Elmo, take a left on Forest Service Road 295 (FS Road 295). Go all the way to the ghost town of Hancock and the parking area for the Alpine Tunnel Trail. Continue south on FS Road 295 about 7/10s of a mile. You might want to engage the 4-Lo for some minor rock-crawling and high-clearance demands of the road. At .7 miles, you will see a driveway on your right that accesses the neighboring mining claim. You can park just passed that driveway. The property boundary is about 200 feet or so off of FS Road 295 as shown on the survey in the supplements.
